Easter play

The Church on the Hill will present "By His Stripes," written and directed by the drama department, at 7 p.m. March 30 and 31. The public is invited to attend the production.

Springtime celebration

program is March 25

The Faith Holy Tabernacle, a nondenominational Church, at 525 N. Main in downtown Rusk, will have a Springtime celebration program at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 25. Speaker will be the Rev. Tommy Calhoun, pastor of Sand Flat Baptist Church in Palestine.

Christian Writers schedule

meeting April 12

Martha L. Rogers, board president of the statewide Christian writers organization will present "Everything I Need to Know About Christian Writing" at the 6:45 p.m. April 12 meeting of the East Texas Chapter of Inspirational Writers Alive! The meeting will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene, Beaumont and Bryan Streets, Jacksonville.

Ms. Rogers has recently sold her second book and numerous articles. She will show the ins and outs of publishing and being an organized writer. She will also discuss the importance to connect with published writers and how to do this. All interested writers of Christian materials are invited to attend. Republican Club slates

meeting April 2

The Cherokee County Republican Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday April 2 at the Jacksonville Senior Citizen Center 302 S. Bolton, Jacksonville. The Honorable 369th District Judge Bascom Bentley will be special guest speaker. All members are encouraged to attend and bring a friend. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Cancer education program

in Alto planned March 24

The Texas Cooperative Extension and Cherokee County Health Department will present Hallelujah to Health breast and cervical cancer education program from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at the Alto High School. Door prizes will be given away.

Gospel singing set at

Memorial Baptist Church

A gospel singing is planned for 7 p.m. Saturday, March 31, at Memorial Baptist Church, Highway 23, just beyond the intersection of Loop 343, on the southwest side of Rusk. The trio, Safely Anchored, will present the program for the event.
