Marie Lois Cox Guymer of Lilbert will participate in a book signing from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 24 at Marie's Books & Gifts in Jacksonville. Mrs. Guymer has recently published her first book, "Women He Touched."
Mrs. Guymer grew up in Ponta and is the daughter of Howard Cox of Ponta and the late Marie Cox. She worshiped at the Rusk Church of Christ for many years.
Each chapter of Mrs. Guymer's book takes a look at a woman of old. Twelve New Testament women are included. She said, "Understanding that God is the original and perfect author, no scripture has been altered in the retelling of these imagined stories."
She tells how each of the women in the book had to cope with hormones, hot tempers, happy days and hurt feelings, just as modern women do. It is through their relationship with Jesus that they are remembered forever.
Mrs. Guymer is a homemaker, wife, mother and grand- mother. She has a B.S. degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and has taught Sunday school, homeschool and women Bible classes. Some of her short stories have been featured in "Christian Women" and "Country Women."
Another book, "To Hear His Voice," a companion manuscript, will retell the stories of some of the men who spoke with Jesus and will be published in the near future.
