Lady Eagle track team placed 3rd at Jacksonville meet

The Lady Eagle track team continued to ride their wave of momentum by finishing 3rd at the Jacksonville meet, which featured several 4A schools. Team results from March 8 were:

3200 meter - Grace Castillo 2nd 14:20, Nelcy Hernandez 5th 15:15; Pole Vault - Christie Sharpless 1st 10, Ashley Davis 3rd 8; Long Jump - Amanda Session 1st 16 10; Shot Put - Charnell Franklin 2nd 29 9; Discus - Cambry Blakemore 1st 99 1 1/2, Charnell Franklin 4th - 88 2 1/2; 800 meter run - April Shedd 1st 2:35; 100 meter dash - Amanda Session 1st 12.7; 200 meter dash - Amanda Session 3rd; 1600 meter - April Shedd 1st 5:53.27; Mile Relay - 4th 4:33.64 Brittney Session, Lainey Upshaw, Rachel Simmons, April Shedd.

Eagle golf team places

3rd at Central

The boys golf team placed 3rd with a score of 338 at the Central tournament held on March 5 at Lufkin Country Club. Individual scores were: Brent Jones 79, Pax Richey 84, Cord Stover 87, Brandon Downs 88 and Koid Dyess 93.

Harris named 2nd-Team

All District

Sophomore Jasmine Harris was named 2nd-Team All District in basketball. Harris conlcuded her second season on the Rusk varsity, playing the position of point guard.

Amanda Session was given All District honorable mention accolades. Session, a senior, concluded her days with the Lady Eagles against Carthage on Feb. 6.

Courtney Taylor of Crockett was named district MVP, while Diboll coach Laura Knight was coach of the year. Diboll was ranked as high as 5th in state during the season.
