Eagle track teams run wild

The Rusk High School Track teams competed in the Center Track Meet on March 1.

The Eagle boys team had several members place. Bobby McDuff took 1st place in the 100- meter dash with a time of 11.35 seconds. McDuff also placed 3rd in the 200-meter dash and was a member of the 800-meter relay team which took 6th place. Other members of that team were Horrace Lewis, J.J. Session and Lonnie Gipson.

Lewis placed 4th in the 200- meter dash. Session placed 4th in the 300-meter hurdles while Jacob Hailey came in 6th. Dustin Crosby placed 6th in the 800- meter run.

In field events, Quinn Anthony took 3rd place in Discus and Shot Put. Koid Dyess took 6th in Discus. In High-Jump, Lewis and Andrew Tucker tied for 4th. Session took 6th in Long Jump. Crosby placed 3rd in Pole Vault.

The Lady Eagle track team placed 2nd overall at the Center Track Meet.

Head Coach Jamie Hays said she was pleased with the results. "Our numbers have increased this year which will make for an exciting and competitive season."

Grace Castillo took 1st place in the two-mile run with a time of 14:47, followed by Kenzie McMurray (4th) and Nelcy Hernandez (6th). Amanda Session won the long jump with a distance of 17'8". Le'Asha O'Neil took 6th place.

Cambry Blakemore won the discus with a throw of 94 2 1/2, followed by Charnell Franklin (2nd) and Kristen Hicks (5th).

Christie Sharpless vaulted eight feet to win the pole vault, while Bonnie Talancon took 4th. April Shedd won the mile run with a time of 6:21, followed by Jordyn McMurray (2nd) and Jessica Russell (4th).

The mile relay team, consisting of Jessica Session, Rachel Simmons, Shedd and Brittney Session placed 3rd. The 400- meter relay team consisting of Robbin Williams, Shanondra Martin, Ashley Davis and Samantha Hill placed 6th. The 800-meter relay team consisting of Jelissa Session, Lainey Upshaw, B. Session and A. Session finished 2nd.
