The Rusk/Alto Girl Scout Troop 139 recently sent a big thank you to Brookshire Brothers of Rusk for the store's donations to the troop. Brookshire Brothers not only sponsored Girl Scout cookie booths in 2006 and 2007, the store also provided the Scouts with a shopping card to purchase food for their fall camping trip. That, with careful budgeting, menu planning and last year's successful cookie sale, enabled the troop to spend a weekend at Camp Bette Perot for less than $5 per girl.
While at camp, the girls enjoyed a trail ride, swimming and learning their way around a stable.
They also earned a badge in horseback riding and began badges in hiking and water fun.
This year, the girls are planning to add archery to their camp activities.
The 2007 Cookie Sale will continue through March. Persons who have not purchased a supply of favorite Girl Scout cookies, may call (903) 683- 9844 or watch for upcoming cookie booths in Cherokee County.
