TEXAS BETA OMEGA MASTERS CHAPTER
September-March chapter activities outlined

Texas Beta Omega Masters Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met at the home of Roma Long on Sept. 5 for the sorority's beginning day luncheon.

The meeting was the first since the spring, as members do not meet during the summer month.

The new programs for the year are entitled "Seventy-Five Years Young."

On Sept. 19 members gathered at the home of Jimmye Watson with Bessie Lunsford, as co-hostess.

Mrs. Watson presented the program on "Hummingbirds," their habitat, the flowers they favor and other interesting facts of the hummingbird. She also told some interesting stories of the American Indian.

Melba Darrow hosted the meeting Oct. 3 with Sarah Summers as co-hostess. Mrs. Darrow read articles from her E-mail friends, "Good Clean Goodies."

Revealing secret sisters was on Oct. 17 at the home of Mary Madden. After receiving gifts from secret sisters, members drew names for the new year.

Each member carried a covered dish to the home of Opal Fitts and a Thanksgiving dinner was enjoyed by Mildred Chapman, Mrs. Darrow, Mary B. Hassell, Mrs. Long, Mrs. Lunsford, Mrs. Madden, Dorothy McClure, Genelle Richards, Mrs. Summers, Mrs. Watson and the hostess, Mrs. Fitts, on Nov. 7.

Members celebrated the birth of Jesus with the Christmas social on Dec. 13. The event began with a "Dutch Treat" dinner at Legacy of Harvey Collins. They met at Mrs. Long's home to see what gifts they received under the Christmas tree.

The sorority met at the home of Opal Fitts with Mary Madden as co-hostess on Jan. 16. Mrs. Madden presented the program "Good Laughs" from her E-mail friends and "Only Could It Happen in Medicine."

The Valentine social was Feb. 6 with a "Dutch Treat" lunch at Legacy of Harvey Collins Restaurant and afterwards, dessert was served at the home of Mrs. Madden. Mrs. Richards was crowned Valentine queen.

Discussing the annual Beta Sigma Phi banquet in April was the topic of concern at the Feb. 20 meeting at the home of Mrs. Long. Mrs. Long presented the program from the "Story of American Food and Drink," apple pie and Coca-Cola, a favorite of America. In 1830 the graham cracker was served to the Americans. In 1845- came Jello; 1874, ice cream soda; 1895, gelatin; 1904, the Hamburger, 1906, the hot dog; then all the other good food was served to the Americans.
