Wells Pirates fall to Laneville in Bi-District playoff action

The Wells Pirates' first playoff drive in 12 years was cut short by a 62-44 loss to Laneville. The loss capped off a 21-11 season which saw the Pirates finish the regular season in a four-way tie for the district championship with Kennard, Neches and Trinidad.

Wells will have two seniors graduating from the team this year. Dustin Rash averaged 10.75 points per game while Jerry Wise averaged 17.5 points per game.

The Pirates will have talent returning next season. Sophomore Chris Canada averaged 14.5 points per game while Junior Josh Akers made 74 threepointers on the season, averaging 9.2 points per game. The Wells Pirates are coached by Chad Collins.
