TSR season officially opens March 3

Despite all of the news concerning their financial difficulties, the Texas State Railroad continues running, as the train is set to launch its 2007 season on March 3.

The financial difficulties surrounding the train led state railroad officials to decide to make extra runs during January and February.

When the season officially launches March 3, train runs will originate from Palestine and Rusk, with runs being made on Saturdays and Sundays. Departure time is 11 a.m.

Prices are up slightly this year to help with expenses. Regular round trip tickets cost $20 for adults and $14 for children. Regular one-way tickets cost $14 for adults and $10 for children.

Tickets to ride in climate-controlled cars are $27 for adults round trip, $20 one-way, and $20 for children round trip, $15 one-way. Tickets can be booked at either depot of the Texas State Railroad, or by calling (800) 442-8951.
