BY ROBIN BEST SPECIAL CONTRIBUTOR

2-1-1 East Texas announced this week that the 2007 East Texas Community Resource Guide is now available.

2-1-1 East Texas has compiled the resources of 14 East Texas counties, along with program descriptions, hours of operation and eligibility requirements into one comprehensive publication.

The guide includes listings of more than 700 social service, non-profit and government agencies and approximately 2000 service programs. The guide is available in printed format or on CD.

"If you need to know about community services available anywhere in East Texas, you need this guide," said La Juan Hollis, 2-1-1 East Texas Director. "Social workers, libraries, hospitals, churches, charitable agencies, case workers and school counselors are just a few of the groups that have discovered what a great asset that the community resource guide provides on a daily basis."

2-1-1 East Texas provides comprehensive information, referral, crisis intervention and advocacy in Anderson, Camp, Cherokee, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Marion, Panola, Rains, Rusk, Smith, Upshur, VanZandt and Wood counties. The program maintains the most comprehensive database of service-based organizations, programs, government agencies and non-profits operating in East Texas.

2-1-1 East Texas is a program of the United Way of Tyler/ Smith County in collaboration with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.

There is some production and printing cost involved in making the guides.

Copies of the guide are available in book form or on CD for a nominal price.
