Rusk summer ball

registration planned

Rusk Baseball and Softball Association

will continue registration for summer

from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Feb. 24 at

high school gym and March 3 and March 10 from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the baseball field. Summer ball participants

be between the ages of 3-15.

The Jacksonville Baseball/Softball Association will begin registration for

baseball and softball. Games will

April 9 and conclude June 2. The league is open to all boys and

ages 3-15.

Registration is planned for 10 a.m.-

m. Saturday, Feb. 24; 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 1, and 10 a.m.-2

Saturday, March 3. Fees are $45

ball, ages 3-6; $55 per player for baseball and softball.

Required for registration are a completed registration form, a copy of the player's official/certified birth certificate

Alto ISD sponsors open

house on March 6

Alto ISD will sponsor its annual spring

house Tuesday, March 6. Parents

guardians are invited to visit with teachers at the elementary campus from

6:30 p.m.; middle school, 6- 7 p.m.;

high school, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

The FFA will sell barbecue with serving line on the upper level of the cafeteria. The middle school will present a "Living History Museum" in the lower level of the cafeteria. Book Fair sale will be in the library. All three events will be from 5-8 p.m.

American Legion seeks

members

The members of the American Legion Post No. 293 invite all current and retired military personnel to join their post. This is the only existing American Legion Post in Cherokee County.

Rusk Rural Water

announces annual meeting

The annual meeting of stockholders of the Rusk Rural Water Supply Corporation has been set for 7 p.m. March 6 at the corporation office, U.S. Highway 69 N in Rusk.

Three persons have been nominated for the directors' terms expiring in 2007. Nominees are Larry Woodcock, Charles Haley and Roy Wilkinson.

Creative ministry weekend

planned at River of Life

The River of Life School of Ministry will sponsor a creative ministry weekend Friday and Saturday, Feb. 23-24 on U.S. Highway 69 South in Rusk. All workshops are free of charge.

Beginning at 7 p.m. Feb. 23 workshops will be offered in creative worship with music, mime, human video, drama and dance specials and preaching by Joe Foster of Carthage. Feb. 24 workshops from 9-11 a.m. will include a drama workshop presented by Melissa Soto of Freeport. Street preaching workshop will be led by Mr. Foster from 11 a.m. to noon.

Participants will have lunch on their own.

A dance workshop will be presented by Jackie Celis of Rusk and RLSM students from 1-3 p.m.

Funds are being sought to benefit the family of Ronald Toles Jr., who is a Hospice patient in Tyler. The child's grandparents are Martin Lusk of Maydelle and Elsie Grogan of Jacksonville. Donations may be deposited at any Austin Bank or the Rusk Pitt Grill. Ruskites attend travel shows

Penny and Roy Reynolds, Connie Brown, Angela Raiborn and Walter Preble attended the George R. Brown RV show Feb. 10-11 in Houston. Teresa Langley, Ms. Brown, Ms. Reynolds, Mr. Preble and Mr. Reynolds will attend the RV Show at the Dallas Market Center Feb. 24-25.

Footbridge 4-H club to hold

garage sale this weekend

The Footbridge chapter of the 4-club will have a benefit garage sale to raise money for the club's activities. The sale will take place Feb. 23-24. Those wishing to make a tax deductible donation of unwanted items for the garage sale may do so by calling Brenda Rempfer at (903) 541-2413.

State missions rally slated

at Denson Springs MBC

The Denson Springs Missionary Baptist Church will hold a state missions rally at 6 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 24 at the church, located on SH 294, 6 miles west of the Neches river.

Secretary-Treasurer of state missions Marion Reed will be the keynote speaker and several state missionaries will be on hand to present their work. Finger-foods will be served afterwards.

County-wide clean-up day

slated for April 21

Cherokee County Commissioners have slated a county-wide clean-up day for Saturday, April 21. Dumpsters will be available at all four county barns and at the Cherokee County Airport from a.m. to 2 p.m. Sites will be monitored by county personnel.
