Drug raid conducted Feb. 1 at Beal Street residence

A joint drug raid was conducted at 2:40 p.m. Feb. 1 in the 200 block of Beal Street by the Rusk Police Department, the Cherokee County Sheriff Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration with assistance from the TDCJ K9 Unit.

Located inside the residence was 4.4 grams of a substance that field tested positive for cocaine.

The occupants of the residence were not at home at the time. Warrants for arrest will be issued.

The amount of narcotics seized makes this a first degree felony offense, said Rusk Assistant Chief Roy Cavazoz.
