Alto student will attend leadership conference

BROOKE POOLE

Brooke Poole, Alto High School junior, has been selected to attend the 2007 Congressional Student Leadership Conference, sponsored by LeadAmerica at Johns Hopkins University in Washington D.C.

Miss Poole is theAlto mascot. She has a GPA of 3.8. She is president of the junior class. She has participated in student council for five years and is the committee chair. She has attended the state council in Dallas. She is a member of the Alto honor society and is currently enrolled at Angelina College and attended Prairie View A&M University last summer, where she studied agricultural sciences under the Research Apprentice Program. She has participated in UIL prose and poetry for five years, advancing to area finals. She has been named to the All Star Cast or honorable mention in UIL oneact play competition every year for the past six years.

She also has participated in number sense and calculator in UIL competition. She has received a division one rating in solo and ensemble playing the tuba in band for the past three years. She plays varsity tennis and basketball. She is president of the New Zion youth ministry.

She plans to study forensic science and pursue a career in forensic pathology.
