Frank Bowden is Rotary speaker Jan. 24

Rotary treasurer -elect Marty Jackson was host at a full house with guests including Rotary International's District Gov. Jack McCullough and his wife Ella Ruth.

Guest speaker was actually the first person to make Ms. Jackson and her company Racefab welcome in Rusk. He is Commander Frank Bowden of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

Mr. Bowden spoke on the various activities of the Rusk chapter of VFW from cooperating with other local service organizations like Rotary to scholarship programs like the "Voice of Democracy." He believes that his organization began back in 1899 will continue to "do anything for this country" only if they remain focused on building membership and bringing new veterans into the fold. The commander said "if there are folks just looking for a place to get together and socialize then don't join the Rusk VFW - because you will have to work if involved in VFW."

Various articles by Mr. Bowden appear in local papers depicting not "John Wayne" personalities but true local war heros living among us.

Persons wishing to contact Mr. Bowden may do so at (903) 743-5000.
