BETTY LOU SIMMONS

Funeral for Betty Lou Simmons, 44, of Rusk, was at 1 p.m. Saturday at Shady Grove CME Church with the Rev. Phal Carter officiating. Burial was in Woodville Cemetery under direction of Mercy/McGowan Funeral Home.

Ms. Simmons died Jan. 20. She was born July 27, 1962, in Rusk to the late Roosevelt Sr. and Lola Tudman Simmons. She attended Rusk High School and lived in Houston before returning to Rusk. She was a certified nurse's assistant and a Methodist. Preceding her in death were two brothers, Samuel Simmons and Spivey Simmons.

Survivors include two daughters, Natasha Simmons of Nacogdoches, and Ravon Simmons of Rusk; three brothers, Roosevelt Simmons Jr. and Travis Simmons, both of Houston, and Roylee Simmons of Crockett; five sisters, Avonsdale Breaux, Wanda Woods and Barbara Simmons, all of Houston, Rose Marie Starks of Tyler, and Dovie Glenn of Dallas; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Norman Holt, Rodney Simmons, Brian Boyd, Victor Simmons, Wesley Simmons and Travis Simmons.

Honorary pallbearers were Zachary Simmons, Byron Simmons, Roy Johnson, L.A. Harvest and Patrick Esters.
