Food Check Out Week scheduled Feb. 4-10

Feb. 4-10 has been designated as Food Check Out Week. According to the agriculture department it takes most Americans approximately five weeks to make enough money to buy food for their family for the entire year. In contrast, it takes until April to earn enough to pay taxes.

Cherokee County Farm Bureau will host a "Farmer's Share" Lunch. There will be a meal that will cost what the farmers receive for the raw product they produce in that meal.

The public is invited to Southland Feed Store in Rusk from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 6 and the Southland Feed Store in Jacksonville from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 8. Proceeds from the event will go to the local food pantries in Cherokee County.
