RUTHIE BELL BLAKEMORE Funeral for Ruthie Bell Blakemore, 75, of Alto, was at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Alto High School Gymnasium with the Rev. L.R. Bean and the Rev. Tracy Clater officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery under the direction of O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home. Mrs. Blakemore died Jan. 13. She was born Feb. 10, 1931, in Alto to Matthew and Callie Sibley Hamilton. She was a homemaker and worked for Whiteman Foods, Alto ISD and as a nursing home aide. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church and lived in Alto all of her life. Preceding her in death were her husband, the Rev. William H. Blakemore; three daughters, Kathlyn Joyce Blakemore, Ruby Bagley and Sharon McGowan; two sisters, Doris Hughes and Betty Tidwell; and four brothers, Emerson Hamilton, Herbert Hamilton, Estrael Hamilton and Charles Hamilton. Survivors are five sons and daughters-in-law, William Henry Jr. and June Blakemore of Sacramento, Calif., Lester and Ernestine Blakemore and Charlie E. and Donna Blakemore, all of Alto, the Rev. Fred D. and Darlene Blakemore of Diboll and Kevin and Sherrie Blakemore of Rusk; a daughter, Ruthie Nell Blakemore of Alto; 28 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two aunts, Dorothy Williams and Elzora Hamilton. Pallbearers were Mike Smith, Lewey Cole, Dewey Cole, Bobby Blue Jr., William Deason, Darrell Ross and Woody Ross. |
