JOE ALTON SCHOCHLER

Funeral for Joe Alton Schochler, 71, of Rusk was at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 18, at Wallace Thompson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Charles Haley officiating.

Burial was in the Sardis-Edgefield Cemetery.

Mr. Schochler died Jan. 16. He was born April 16, 1935, in Rusk to the late Alton Avon and Evelyn B. Russell Schochler. He was a resident of the Sardis community and formerly resided in Houston. He served in the United States Navy as a corpsman.

Mr. Schochler was employed by the Swisher Corporation and a member of the Sardis Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife Joyce Schochler of Rusk; three daughters and sons-in-law, Karon and Jack O'Gorman of Rusk, Kathy and Dean Patrick of Pasadena, and Kim and Robert Vasquez of Pearland; a son, Joe Schochler Jr. of Pearland; 11 grandchildren, John Watson Jr., Melissa Maples, Andrew Watson, Steven Schochler, Jackie O'Gorman Jr., Bradley Hinson, Matthew Patrick, Sarah O'Gorman, Arielle Schochler, Brandy Schochler and Emily Vasquez; and two great grandchildren, Eduardo Cordenas III and Joseph Diaz.

Pallbearers were Mark Gowin, Andrew Watson, Robert Gowin, Bradley Hinson, Jackie O'Gorman Jr. and Matthew Patrick.
