Fund will assist family

RONNIE TOLES JR.

A fund has been established at Austin Bank in the name of Ronald Toles Jr.

Donations may be made at any of the Austin Banks. Also, contribution cans have been placed at local businesses including the Pitt Grill in Rusk.

Ronnie is the son of Ronnie and Tammy Lusk Toles of Chandler. Grand parents are Martin (Nat) Lusk of Maydelle, Elsie Grogan of Jacksonville and Stella Toles of Quitman.

Ronnie was born Dec. 18, 1994 and was later diagnosed with nonketotichyperglycinemia (NKH).

Only one person in every billion are carriers of this disorder. Carriers do not have the disease themselves and there is no test that can determine carriers. The disease affects the child's breathing, heart rate, body functions and causes seizures.

Since little is know about NKH, a child with this disorder does not live long after birth. Ronnie is only the second child to reach the age of 12 with the disease.

"Little Ronnie had a turn for the worse on Friday, Jan. 12, and was taken to Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. They are making him as comfortable as possible," said his grandmother, Mrs. Grogan.
