RUSK LIBRARY STUDY CLUB Members of the Rusk Library Study Club met Dec. 12 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for their annual Christmas luncheon. The meal was prepared and served by church members. The table was decorated with greenery and gold ribbons. Club members reported the gathering was enjoyed by all. The club met at First Presbyterian Church on Jan. 9 for their first meeting of the new year. Dolly Loftin, president, opened by leading members in reading the club collect. Ms. Loftin introduced the speaker, Ella Mae Cotten, whose hobby is making quilts. This is a craft of interest to many women world-wide and Mrs. Cotten is a gifted seamstress. She brought a queen size quilt made of printed fabric cut in simple squares, sewn together to form an intricate, beautiful design. She gives the unique quilt creations to grandchildren and other family members. A question and answer session followed. Mary B. Hassell read "The Old Home Place" in memory of her mother and "There is a Way Through" in memory of her husband, both of whom died last year. She ended with a poem, "The Game of Life." After a short business session, the meeting was adjourned. |
