JOE BROWN JR.

Funeral for Joe Brown Jr., 68, of Rusk, was at 11 a.m. Monday at Linwood Baptist Church with Pastor D. Johnson officiating. Burial was in Woodville Cemetery under direction of Mercy/ McGowan Funeral Home.

Mr. Brown died Jan. 10. He was born Aug. 3, 1938, in Troup to Joe N. Sr. and Dorothy Whitaker Brown. He attended Booker T. Washington school and was a retired truck driver and a member of Linwood Baptist Church and the Linwood Male Chorus. He served eight years in the Army. He was preceded in death by wife, Linda Nell Session-Brown; brother, Marvin Burleson; and two grandchildren. Survivors include a son, Patrick Session; five daughters, Retha Booker, Tamma Jenkins, Beverly Henderson, Cora Session and Roslyn Brown; stepmother, Johnnie Brown; five brothers, Odis Brown Sr., Earl Brown, Darius Brown, Larry Bennett and Gary Thompson; seven sisters, Frankie Hogan, Faye Kent, Brenda Manning, Linda Robinson, Charlene Williams, Barbara Boone and Lisha Jiles; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jemiah Jenkins, Jemetrius Jenkins, Charles Booking Jr., Cedric Brown, Derrick Brown and Odis Brown Jr. Deacons served as honorary pallbearers.
