BETH ANN ROGERS
Funeral for Beth Ann Parrott Rogers, 58, was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with burial following at Walker's Chapel Cemetery in Reklaw.

She was born on March 11, 1948, to William and Mavis Parrott of Reklaw and died Jan. 8 after a long illness.

Survivors include her husband, Calvin Douglas (Doug) Rogers of Austin; a daughter, Honey Elizabeth Graham and a granddaughter Makayla Jade Burkett of Longview; her mother, Mavis Parrott of Reklaw; a brother, William Robert (Bob) Parrott of Reklaw; nephew, Chad Parrott of Irving; niece, Alison Dotson of Rusk; two step-daughters Angela Kemp and Rashel Hamilton; four step-granddaughters, Abigail Kemp, Katelyn Kemp, Madeline Hamilton and Caroline Hamilton all of Lewisville and many friends.

Mrs. Rogers graduated from Rusk High School and continued her education at Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches in 1970. She earned her masters in library science from LeTourneau University and began her teaching career in Jacksonville as a kindergarten teacher and principal. She also taught special education, physical education and was a high school librarian at Hallsville, for 18 years. In 1997, she worked as the librarian of William B. Travis High School before completing her teaching career as the ninth grade center librarian at Westlake High School in Eanes ISD.

Mrs. Rogers had several honors in her career including an appointment to the Texas Skill Standards Board by then Governor and now President George W. Bush. She served on the ATPE Board of Directors in the mid 1980s as well as most regional and local offices in the early years of ATPE. In 1993, she was elected president of the Association of Texas Professional Educators after serving as the state secretary and state vice-president. She also served on a variety of committees both at the local school district level and at the state ATPE level. She is also a member of the Wall of Honor in ATPE as a past state president.

Pallbearers were Chad Parrott, Ken Dotson, Archie McAfee, Alan Bookman, Jerry Russell and Steve Graham.

Honorary pallbearers were Al Clark, Mike McLamore, Jack Riley, Ike Frazer, Harry Webster and John Jackson.
