DOROTHY (LORENE) DARDEN

Funeral for Dorothy (Lorene) Darden, 92, of Jacksonville, was at 11 a.m. Monday in the Thompson Funeral Home chapel. Burial was in Mixon Cemetery.

Mrs. Darden died Jan. 12. She was born Dec. 24, 1914, to Paul Vernon and Lillie Belle Ross in Troup. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mixon First Baptist.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Paula and Lillie Ross; sisters, Nellie Pearle Gattis and Joyce Kathryn Glover; first husband, Rubin Wesley Roper in 1959 and second husband, Johnny Willie Darden in 1991.

Survivors are a son, Wesley Roper of Jacksonville; a daughter, Paula Etheridge of College Station; a brother, Curtis Ross of Jacksonville; a sister, Molly Rene Smith of Pasadena; numerous grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
