Ruskite graduates from Northwestern State

Rusk native, Jena Garbutt, graduated from Northwestern State University, with honors, on Dec. 15, 2006. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education six years to the day after she first stepped on the NSU campus. It was on Dec. 15, 2000, when she along with her parents, made a trip to Natchitoches, La. to visit the campus on one of her college days as a senior at the high school. Being an All State oboist she wanted to learn about what scholarship opportunities were available at NSU.

Before the day was through she had an impromptu audition and scholarships that would help pay for her education.
