Lance Low brings leadership, drive to Jacket offense

      When a team's quarterback is recruited as an athlete, it usually means the team will scramble throughout two-adays to find a suitable replacement. That's not the case for the Alto Yellowjackets. Jacket Head Coach Keith Gardner named Lance Low as the starting quarterback on the first day of practice and has a lot of good things to say about his new signal caller.

Rusk downs Fairfield in scrimmage

      The Eagles are off to a quick start as they downed Fairfield 3-1 Saturday. Coaches evaluated Rusk's more aggressive defense and offensive play-makers. During two-a-days, Head Coach Wayne Mahaffey said Rusk would field a more aggressive defense this season.

Rusk volleyball season begins
Lady Eagles fall to Chapel Hill, beat J'ville

      The Rusk Lady Eagles are looking to establish team chemistry as they faltered in the season opener to Chapel Hill on Aug. 14, then took five games to defeat Jacksonville on Aug. 17. "We didn't come out victorious (against Chapel Hill) mainly because we had many new faces on the court," said Tiffany Cooksey, who is in her second season as head volleyball coach.

Rusk 'meets the Eagles'
      The annual "Meet the Eagles" football kickoff was held Monday at Eagle Stadium in Rusk. Among the festivities was the introduction of fall sports athletes, the recognition of senior athletes and the unveiling of the new runthrough tunnel called "The Tunnel of Champions.
