Heavy rains wreak havoc on Cherokee County

Heavy rainfall over the weekend resulted in flooding in various parts of Cherokee County, closing several county roads and flooding homes near Lake Jacksonville. Jacksonville City Manager Mo Raissi said the water level at Lake Jacksonville was two feet above normal. More...

Cherokee County is in the process of making application for disaster status. Ken Hannah, county emergency management coordinator, reported to the commissioners court Monday morning that Texas has 53 counties affected by heavy rains. New AC unit is installed
A giant crane visited k Rusk two weeks ago when a new heating and air conditioning system was installed at the county courthouse. The old unit was lifted and lowered to the ground and a new unit put in its place. The new system was included in this year's budget and was planned. The unit was purchased from Johnson Controls of Shreveport, La. and cost $145,541. Courthouse activity continued as usual with patrons and employees bearing the disadvantages of the heat. More...
