Wells honor grads annnounced
CHASE DEW Chase Dew with a 96.08 grade point average and Jerry Wise, 95.84 GPA, were named valedictorian and salutatorian at Wells High School graduation May 25.
Top honor students are announced at the annual high school graduation exercise.
A total of $21,020 was awarded to six graduating students from the class of 18.
Scholarships awarded to Mr. Dew included Wells ATPE, $135; TLL Temple 21st Century. $2,000; Temple- Inland Foundation, $1,000; Cherokee Chapter No. 11, Royal Arch Masons, $500; Wells 4-H, $100; E.E. and Myrtle Alexander Memorial Scholarship, $500; Forrest Baptist Church, $1,000; and Texas Education agency Honor Graduate award.
Mr. Wise also received the Wells ATPE, $135; Ola and Cecil Goodman Memorial Scholarship, $1,000; Wells Youth Basketball, $250; and Wells High School Scholastic Achievement scholarship, $500.
Samantha Reynolds received Wells Masonic Lodge scholarship for $500; Texas Democratic Women of Cherokee County, $750; Lufkin Coca Cola, $1,200; Jamye Crawford Memorial, $250; Cherokee Chapter No. 11 Royal Arch Masons, $500; and Wells Community Homecoming Association, $300.
JERRY WISE Jonathan Grayson received the Johnie Richardson Memorial, $500; TLL Temple 21st Century, $2,000; and John G. Saxton Memorial, $800.
Salena Jones received the Wells Police Department Unpaid Officers scholarship, $500; and the Lufkin Industries scholarship for $5,600.
Tyler McKnight received the Region V Texas High School Rodeo scholarship for $1,000.
