Hitchman goes on to win East Texas State Championship
      In the final results from Sunday's $201,000 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series East Texas State Championships it was veteran Top Alcohol Dragster driver Darryl Hitchman ousting James Thompson Jr., of Vernon, in the dragster final at Cherokee County Motorsports Park. Hitchman of Celeste, beat #1 qualifier and defending division champion Spencer Massey in his semifinal match up, then ran a 5.

Alto's Mean Sting remembers championship year
Athletes honored at sports banquet
      The 2006-2007 school year was a memorable one for Alto High School athletes. The football team won the Class A Division I state championship, the track team sent five athletes to the state track meet, the baseball team competed in the area round of the playoffs and the softball team made it to the regional quarterfinals.

Cody Sell Memorial Award
     Myron Lofton was awarded the Cody Sell Memorial Award in basketball. Lofton was a member of the Alto varsity basketball team and the football team, among other extracurricular activities at Alto High School.

Best All-Around Athletes
     Molly Pearman k and Julian Willis were given the Alto Herald All-Round Athlete Awards. Pearman was a varsity cheerleader and played 1st base on the varsity softball team. Willis was the quarterback of the football team, ran track and played basketball. Willis was All-State in football.

     Tyson Mitchell l (left) and Julian Willis were honored as football most valuable players. Mitchell has signed with Trinity Valley Community College while Willis will play for Tyler Junior College.
