RHS senior set for big drag race this weekend
Bryce Isaacs ranked 7th nationally
      The seventh nationally ranked drag racer will graduate from Rusk High School May 25. Bryce Isaacs will walk across the stage, but not before he competes in the Lucas Oil Series competition at the Cherokee County Motorsports Park May 18-20 in Rusk. Bryce is ranked seventh in Division 4, a division which features thousands of racers from all over the United States.

Rusk, Alto teams come up short in playoffs
      They played hard, but when the dust settled, the Rusk Lady Eagles, Alto Yellowjackets and Lady Jackets were out of the playoffs. Rusk played in a three-game regional quarterfinal series against the Huntington Devillettes. In game one, Rusk held Huntington to a 1-0 score.

Eagles celebrate banner year
Athletes honored at All-Sports Banquet held on May 7
      The Rusk All-Sports Banquet was held on May 7, honoring Rusk High School athletes who competed in sports during the 2006-2007 school year. Rusk Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Wayne Mahaffey served as master of ceremonies, giving an opening speech which explained the meaning of the banquet and highlighted the success of Eagle athletics this year.

      Pax Richey was given the E. H. Whitehead Best Senior Boy Athlete Award. The award is given to the athlete who demonstrates good leadership ability, a desire to participate, good performance and good grades.

      Grace Castillo was given the Billy Watson Players Choice Award for Girls' Basketball. Grace ran cross country, track and played basketball this year for Rusk High School.

     Kyle Garner won the Quarterback Club Football Award at the All- Sports Banquet on May 7. Garner (pictured right displaying the award), also played baseball for Rusk High School. Garner graduates in May.
