      Playoff hopes for the Rusk Eagles were dashed by a 12-0 loss to the Carthage Bulldogs Friday at Eagle Field. Carthage pitcher Jonathan Baker struck out eight Eagle batters, while the rest of the Rusk lineup struggled against a stout Bulldog defense.

Rusk Eagles qualify for regionals
Regional track meet to be held in Humble Friday and Saturday

      The Rusk Eagle track team will send five athletes to the Region III-3A track meet in Humble Friday and Saturday. Headed to regionals are Bobby McDuff, J.J. Session, Jacob Hailey, Quinn Anthony and Koid Dyess. McDuff qualified for the regional meet by placing 3rd in district in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 11.24. Session won 3rd in long jump with a jump of 20' 10 3/4".

Baseball seniors
      Senior Rusk Eagle baseball players who will be playing their final game Friday are (from left): Brent Jones, Kyle Garner, Chris Walley, Pax Richey and Cortland Jones. The Eagles take on the Hudson Hornets at 7 p.m. Friday, April 27 at Eagle Field.

      First place winners in the Rusk Rotary Club Memorial Golf Tournament on April 14 were (from left): Charlie Raiborn, Jamie Magruder, Pat Richey and Jonathan Richey. The team competed for and won the first place prize of $500.

Cinco de Mayo tourney slated
      The Birmingham Forest Golf Club will host the Cinco de Mayo tournament on Saturday, May 5. The tournament will be a guy/gal tournament with a scramble format. Cash prizes of $150, $100 and $50 will be paid to the low net and low gross winners. Entry fee is $70 per couple and includes continental breakfast, mulligans on the course and fajitas for lunch.
