Cherokee County Sheriff 's deputies are carrying new handguns at the expense of criminals, not taxpayers. Sheriff James Campbell said the department's new Glock model-22, 40-caliber pistols were bought using seized drug money and property. The engagement of Kristina Gayle Jones and Jesse Orion Purma is announced by their parents, Mark and Kerrie Jones of Alto, and Joe and Judy Purma of Taneyville, Mo. The wedding will be held April 28 at Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The bride-elect has a BS in science from Texas A & M and an MS in physical therapy from TWU. She is currently employed as a physical therapist with the Harris County Hospital District. I am writing this letter to let the people of Alto know that within the last few weeks two police officers have stopped my 70 year old mother in Alto not once but twice. On March 23 officer James Green stopped my mother and informed her that she wasn't allowed to leave her home and be on the streets walking or driving and all she was doing was taking care of her own business at that time. Rusk clinches playoff spot with win over Lady Riders
The Lady Eagle defense stepped up and assisted pitcher Callie Collins during Rusk's 10-1 win over the Center Lady Riders Tuesday in Rusk. Collins struck out seven batters, allowed six hits and walked one batter, holding Center scoreless until the 5th inning. She also caught a pop-fly, fielded a grounder making the throw to 1st and forced Center to strand seven runners on base. More...
