Sixth, seventh and eighth grade girls from Rusk Junior High attended an "Expanding Your Horizons" convention at Tyler Junior College March 31. The conference focused on math and science careers and is designed to encourage girls to enter these fields. More ... Highlights of the weekend include a theatre production of "The Glass Menagerie at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Zula Pearson Theatre, Bearcat-for-a-day Saturday and worship services led by the Fine Arts department at 10 a.m. Sunday in the chapel. Doug Whitt of Southwest Securities, financial adviser for Rusk ISD, presented an opportunity for the district to refund its bonds at the Monday evening school board meeting. The board authorized Mr. Whitt to resell the district's bonds,totaling $3.095 million. The bond re-finance will allow a $100,000 savings to the district. Terms of bond pay-off will remain the same.
