For the past several years, I have been writing letters to the editor, the Texas Public Utility Commission, my state congressmen and various other state officials about the rates charged by TXU. After reading a recent story about the TXU audit performed by Potomac Economics Ltd., I dug out several years of TXU bills and calculated the actual per KWH rate that I paid for electricity. More ... I recently received a solicitation from the National Veterans Services Fund campaign requesting a $10 donation as part of their 2007 Rusk area annual fund donation drive. The letter opened with, " Have you forgotten to say 'thank you?''' and continued in a similar, heart-tugging vein which suggested that if the reader did not respond positively, his or her patriotism was questionable.
