Shelbie Kirkpatrick crowned show queen
Shelbie Kirkpatrick, a member of Lookout 4-H Club, was crowned queen of the Cherokee County Junior Livestock Show Saturday afternoon. Placing her crown is last year's queen, Jennifer Hill, Rusk FFA. Miss Kirkpatrick raised a total of $3,151, which will be used for upkeep at the show barn. More...
Case not presented to last week's grand jury

Retail sales slipped in many Cherokee County cities when compared to the same period a year ago. Cuney's retail sales dropped almost 32 percent, followed by Rusk with a drop of 3.73 percent, Jacksonville, almost half of a percent. Increased competition marked the annual Doug Jordan Relays Thursday, as eight teams ranging from Class 1A-4A competed for championship honors.
