RHS alumni group uses website, Facebook to keep in touch
We have more info that you might want to consider including in your articles prior to the events. Our board members have designed sites on the Internet to showcase our activities, past and upcoming, as well as a listing of our more than 400 members by class year. Donald Allen first designed and continues to update our website, www.myruskhigh.com/rhsaa. Most recently, David Crysup has put us on Facebook. Below are his comments when he first set it up in early July. We are adding new members weekly, so something is paying off. “The RHSAA now has a group that Facebook users can join and a page that users can become a fan of. For those who join the group, I can send a broadcast e-mail to everyone that has joined. As of right now we have almost 80 members. For those who are a fan of the page, they will see any posting to the fan page on their individual ‘news feed.’ On the fan page, I have posted information about the chili supper, donations and membership. “For those of you that do not have a Facebook page, I recommend you do so. Go to www.facebook.com and set up a profile. People of all ages use it. Facebook is a social media tool used to connect with other people, follow certain organizations, network, etc. I use it mostly to follow businesses and organizations of interest. If you already have a page, please join the group, become a fan of the page and suggest it to other Rusk High School alumni. “I will use this to get information out to those that follow the organization about upcoming events, donations, memberships, etc., that may not have heard of it any other way. The intent is to convert some of those fans and members of Facebook into RHSAA members and donors. If there is any news anyone would like for me to post, let me know and I will do that.” |
