BACKGROUND: Texas Archeology Month (TAM) is one of the biggest state celebrations of archeology in the country, informing Texans about how archeological sites can help tell the real stories of Texas by revealing important evidence about the state’s past. From examining artifacts at a local museum to participating in a mock dig, TAM events bring history to life by highlighting the significance of the contributions made by professional and avocational archeologists. Archeology fairs and festivals are the central events of TAM and will be held in various cities throughout the state. The THC publishes a complete listing of upcoming activities in the TAM Calendar of Events, now available at www.thc.state.tx.us.
